It’s An Inside Day, today
Keep it simple, easy to organize and easy to clean…and fun
.pack away the easels and use the floor to put boxes, masking tape, scissors, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, material scraps, string, wools, foil trays (wheels?) for a make-your-own special creation…..
.bring out “special” construction and train sets
.have a story reading area…. perhaps with bean bags or inside a large box or partially screened off area
.Have another area with a CD player for singing or playing a couple of musical instruments
.place a long piece of paper on the floor for a group drawing activity…enjoyed by the younger children
.create a supervised obstacle course using protective mats to roll and jump on, chairs for climbing through, tables to clamber under, bean bags to toss into a bucket….
.use (sensitive skin) shaving cream for a group finger painting session on a table…disposable gloves for the squeamish and the skin sensitive
.have a Picnic Lunch...place sheet or mats on the floor and have a discussion about an imaginary picnic spot
.have a Disco or Dance session with favourite music…perhaps do this in the afternoon, having made “microphones”, “drums” and organized Dressing Up clothing in the morning . Nominate an announcer, make a “Stage”, and add chairs for those who prefer to be an audience
.use a table top to place a large bowl of sand on… add a container of small animals, figures or vehicles. If there is room and equipment to spare, two children could have their own bowl and work independently
.create, with the children, “Cubby Houses” which could have books or picnic baskets and dolls placed inside
.add something different to the playdough…coloured pipe cleaners, sparkles, set of cooking utensils and a “stove” made from a box
